SHE WAS HERE BEFORE

The images are silkscreens of a forest that thrives on volcanic soil. Made during and after a residency in Shizuoka Japan, volcanic rock (pumice and obsidian) was collected from the site and subsequently ground to dust and mixed with graphite powder. These materials were then sifted, sieved and pushed through the silkscreen for result. The breaking apart and falling away of this fine powdered mixture on the paper fibres is intentional.
